Lignosulfonate Production
From spent pulping liquor to dry, free-flowing lignosulfonate powder.
These 2026 photos show a lignosulfonate production plant: the evaporation section, spray drying towers and the air-handling equipment that turns liquid feedstock into consistent powder grades.

How Lignosulfonate Is Made
The main stages between raw liquor and packed product.
- FeedstockSpent sulfite pulping liquor is collected and screened before processing.
- EvaporationMulti-effect evaporators concentrate the liquor to the required solids content.
- Spray DryingThe concentrate is atomized in spray towers to form fine, uniform powder.
- Testing & PackingEach batch is tested in the laboratory, then packed and labeled.
Inside the Plant
Equipment grouped by process stage.
Stage 1
Liquor Handling & Process Area
Spent pulping liquor is held and mixed in tanks under covered process areas before it is pumped to evaporation.
Stage 2–3
Evaporation & Spray Towers
Concentrated liquor is fed from the evaporation section to the spray towers, where it is dried into powder.
Stage 3
Drying Section & Air Handling
Cyclones, ducting and exhaust treatment recover product and clean the drying air before release.
